The Top 5 Tips for Food Phoptogrpahy

1. Lighting

Just like any other still life object you must have good lighting, natural lighting like from a window is best because it helps make the ood look fresh.

2.Props

Its best to have props and not just the single food looking plain in the picture, having props such as forks or spoons and knives helps, as well as a plate.

3. Background

Make sure the background matches the theme and color scheme of the picture, could be something as simple as a completely black or white backround to something patterened but it must match the theme and color scheme.

4.Be Quick

This is specifically if you are using real food and not artificial. Food doesnt stay looking good, after a while it may start melting or changing color and the picture isnt gonna look best if its old food, so being quick is important. Having in mind what youre going for before the food actually arrives could help alot.

5.Get Down Low

While some pictures may look good from up high directly over the food its not the same case with all. Get down low and up close to the food photograph the texture and steam.

Extra Tip!!!!

Have a bottle of olive oil handy to add to the food to make it glisten in your picture.
